Better Together Animal Alliance (BTAA) is pleased to announce that Talitha Neher, DVM, has joined the organization’s veterinary team, effective October 5, 2026.
As part of BTAA’s mission to keep people and pets together, Dr. Neher brings over two decades of veterinary experience to the organization’s work supporting animals and the people who care for them.
A Sandpoint native, Dr. Neher earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Wisconsin in 2004. She is highly skilled in managing complex medical and surgical cases and has a special interest in behavioral medicine. She particularly enjoys helping pet owners navigate behavioral challenges, using a combination of approaches to help pets and their people achieve successful outcomes.
“We’re thrilled to welcome Dr. Neher to the BTAA team,” said Mandy Evans, President & CEO of BTAA. “Her experience in animal shelter medicine, combined with her clinical and surgical expertise, plus her interest in behavioral medicine, will strengthen our ability to provide the veterinary care our shelter animals and community pets need.”
Dr. Neher’s addition comes as BTAA continues to expand its community-based approach to animal welfare. While BTAA operates an animal care center and provides sheltering services, much of its work happens beyond the shelter walls. The organization serves more than 8,000 animals each year through programs including low-cost spay and neuter services, Trap-Neuter-Return for community cats, door-to-door Pets for Life program serving pets from under-resourced neighborhoods, and its Helpline for pet support. BTAA fills a critical gap in our region by providing access to veterinary care and helping to remove barriers to care that can put pets at risk of surrender.
As a private 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, BTAA is not affiliated with the county or city and receives no tax support. The organization depends on private donations, grants, volunteers and community support to fund its work. Every veterinary service provided through BTAA represents an opportunity to help a pet remain healthy, help a family keep its companion, or help an animal in need move toward a new home.
“The community makes this work possible,” Evans said. “Veterinary care is one of the most important tools we have to keep pets healthy, address challenges before they become crises, and give animals the best possible chance at a good outcome. Adding Dr. Neher to our team strengthens our ability to do that work.”
