KNOW YOUR OPTIONS
Surrendering a pet
We know this is one of the hardest decisions a pet owner can face. Whatever the reason, we’re committed to working with you to find the best possible outcome for your pet.
Before you surrender, consider the alternatives. Our Helpline and the Home to Homeโข program may be able to help. Home to Homeโข lets you rehome your pet directly to a new family, on your own terms, without a care center stay.
Call us first. Before scheduling a surrender, reach the Helpline at 208-265-7297 ext. 107. We may be able to help you keep your pet or find a gentler path forward.
What to bring at drop-off
- A valid government-issued photo ID. Without it, the pet is processed as a stray with a 5-business-day hold.
- A completed Owner Surrender Questionnaire, fill it out at home for thoughtful, uninterrupted time.
- A hard copy of medical records if available, or your veterinarian's contact information.
